Program info
Party & Special Event Workshops are a great way for kids to be engaged in an
interactive engineering or technology-based activity with their peers. Birthday parties,
sports teams, clubs, camps, daycares and any other group organization such as girl
guides and scouts are invited to take part in these 2-hour sessions.
-
Construct-a-chomper
Who said alligators are scary?! Learning about simple machines, fulcrums and levers has never been easier when you build our chomping alligator. Additional fee for materials.
-
Build-a-bug
Participants will use LEGO to build and test a robotic inchworm. Concepts such as simple and compound machines will be addresses as participants become mechanical engineers for the day.
-
Construct-a-catapult
Participants will use simple hand tools to construct their own take-home catapult mechanism. Topics such as energy, measurement and experimentation will be explored in a fun and meaningful way. This program is subject to a materials fee per child in addition to the workshop cost.
-
Make-a-movie
Participants will learn how to make a stop motion animation during this workshop. Topics such as story, character and backdrop creation will be covered as participants create their own animated production.
-
Construct-a-car
Seems simple, but with our rubber band racer you'll learn about linear motion, energy storage and conservation. Additional fee for materials.
-
Construct-a-critter
Participants will learn about a variety of mechanical concepts such as gear ratios, locomotion and energy as they build and test a 4-legged walking creature using LEGO building materials.
-
Build-a-boat
Participants will construct their own take-home mechanized art project. Concepts such as motion will be addressed as they construct a linkage to operate a bobbing sailboat. This program is subject to a materials fee per child in addition to the workshop cost.
-
Create-a-computer game
Participants will be introduced to some of the concepts involved in video game creation. Concepts will be applied as participants learn how to create their own finished game. Completed games are Windows-based and will be made available for at-home use.
